2002 Clearwater Jazz Holiday

Performing today at the free 2002 Clearwater Jazz Holiday at Coachman Park are Ghetto Love Sugar with Jonathon and Jeremy Powell (6:30-7:45 p.m.), Astral Project (8:15-9:30 p.m.) and the Dizzy Gillespie Alumni All Stars (10-11:15 p.m.).

On Saturday, the lineup features the Dan McMillion Jazz Orchestra (noon-1:15 p.m.), Camp Fire, the Larry Camp Quartet (1:45-3 p.m.), A Tribute to Jobim, featuring Slide Hampton (3:30-4:45 p.m.), James Moody with Marlena Shaw (5:15-6:30 p.m.), the Jeff Berlin Group (7-8:15 p.m.) and the Chick Corea Elektric Band featuring Chick Corea, John P. Weckl, Eric Marienthal and Frank Gambale (9-10:30 p.m.).

Free general admission. A limited number of preferred seats closer to the stage are available for $25 a day at Ticketmaster outlets or online at Ticketmaster.com. Band competition

The 30th annual Golden Invitational Marching Band Competition begins at 2 p.m. Saturday at the Largo High School football stadium, 410 Missouri Ave. Seventeen top bands from around the Tampa Bay area and other parts of Florida will perform. Admission is $10 for adults, $5 for children and $7 for senior citizens. Parking is free.

Piano concert

Contemporary Steinway pianist and composer Robin Spielberg will perform at 8 tonight in the Tonne Playhouse at the Largo Cultural Center, 105 Central Park Drive, south of East Bay Drive between Highland Avenue and Seminole Boulevard. Spielberg, who is classically trained, made her Carnegie Hall debut in 1997. Tickets are $14.50 general. Call 587-6793.

CHOPIN: Prize-winning entertainer Piotr Paleczny will give a piano concert at 8 p.m. Saturday at the Polish Center Auditorium, 1521 N Saturn Ave., Clearwater. He has appeared as a soloist with such renowned orchestras as the Warsaw National Philharmonic and the Chicago Symphony. Call 298-8609.
