Sunday's performance by the James Dapogny Chicago Jazz Band highlights the weekend entertainment scene.

When he's not busy teaching music classes at the University of Illinois, Dapogny heads out on the road with his jazz band. He plays piano and is the band leader.

The band plays ragtime, New Orleans and Chicago 1920's jazz and Big Band swing music.

The band has recorded seven albums, including Sippie, with blues singer Sippie Wallace and Bonnie Raitt. It was nominated for a Grammy. Their newest album, On the Road, marks the band's 20th anniversary.

The James Dapogny Chicago Jazz Band will perform at 3 p.m. Sunday at Curtis Peterson Auditorium at Lecanto High School, County Road 491 S, and at 7:30 p.m. Monday at the CFCC Ocala Campus Fine Arts Auditorium.

The concerts kick off the 2002-2003 Central Florida Community College Performing Arts Series season, now in its 15th year. Tickets are $15 and are available at all Citrus County Chamber of Commerce offices or at the Curtis Peterson box office before the show. Call 746-6721, ext. 1416.
