Ninetieth birthday celebration

A surprise 90th birthday celebration was held for Ina Thayer Smith LaFoe at Lake Carlton Arms Clubhouse on Oct. 12. LaFoe, born in 1912 in Braintree, Mass., has lived in Tampa since November 1950. She celebrated the special occasion with her seven children and their families, Beverly and Oscar Tomas and Audrey and Philip McKinnon of Odessa; Ina Jean Castillo of Lutz; Nancy LaFoe, Gayle and Kenneth Crowe and Bill and Dale LaFoe, all of Tampa; and Charles and Rose LaFoe of Fair Grove, Mo. Also attending were her 12 grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Jesuit grad crowned Purdue homecoming king

Jim Urbaitis, son of Sue Rinaldo of Town 'N Country, was crowned homecoming king at Purdue University during halftime of the the Purdue-Minnesota football game on Sept. 28. Urbaitis, a 1999 graduate of Jesuit High School, is a senior in the School of Business Management. He is majoring in Spanish and marketing. He and homecoming queen Christi Klein were selected after a formal interview by a panel of judges composed of faculty, staff, students, alumni and community leaders.
