UNFOLD THE PAPER ... : It's always cute when a World Series comes to a community for the first time. And even though the Dodgers have played a few up the road, the local Orange County Register is making sure to cover every base. Friday, the Register gave readers a two-page primer on the Rally Monkey and a guide on how to dress in Angels red ("Other than a red T-shirt with jeans or khakis, candy-apple red is not the easiest color for men to look stylish in.") Saturday, their basic information package included this nugget: "The stakes -- Winner take all. The right to be called World Series champion."
CEREMONIALLY SPEAKING: With Nolan Ryan unavailable, the Angels had Jackie Autry, widow of original team owner Gene Autry, throw out the first pitch Saturday with former Angel Chuck Finley catching it. John Groban sang the national anthem and Jessica Simpson performed God Bless America and Take Me Out to the Ballgame. Fans received -- as if you couldn't hear -- CheerStix and a rally towel.
STAR POWER: Despite being Disney-owned, the Angels haven't been attracting many fans from Hollywood. Among the celebs who have dropped in during the postseason are John Travolta, Reese Witherspoon and Dennis Quaid.
