SAY WHO?: It seems 660 home runs do not go as far as they used to. The legendary Willie Mays was stopped in the parking lot when he tried to enter Edison Field for Game 2 Sunday night. When his limo driver failed to impress security officials, Mays got out of his car to plead his case. He did not have the proper photo ID, but a police officer recognized him and arranged a motorcycle escort the rest of the way. Hopefully, Mays won't have similar problems tonight. He is expected to join Giants Hall of Famers Orlando Cepeda, Juan Marichal and Willie McCovey in throwing out the first pitch.

HOODWINKED: Scanners that will detect counterfeit tickets will be used at Pac Bell Park for tonight's game. Officials reportedly confiscated dozens of counterfeit tickets during Games 1 and 2 in Anaheim. Most of the ticket-holders said they spent hundreds of dollars purchasing the tickets from scalpers outside the stadium. They were not allowed in the stadium with the fake tickets.

WEIGHTY DISCUSSION: Mike Scioscia was sitting on the bench, surrounded by a group of reporters, when former big-league pitcher and current television analyst Rick Sutcliffe wandered by. After a friendly exchange of insults, Sutcliffe declared he had only one question to ask the Angels manager. "I was looking in the media guide and it has you listed at 6-2 and 245 pounds," Sutcliffe said, eyeing Scioscia's midsection. "How is that?" When the laughter died down, Scioscia grimly nodded. "You're right," Scioscia said. "I'm 6-3."
