WEDU-TV to air interviews with Bush, McBride on ThursdayBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times
Tampa's main public TV station will be featuring a lot of politics in the coming weeks. At 8 p.m. Thursday, WEDU-TV Ch. 3 will air half-hour interviews with Gov. Jeb Bush and his Democratic challenger, Bill McBride . The show will be repeated at 7 p.m. Nov. 3, two days before the general election. The interviews with Rob Lorei, host of the station's Tampa Bay Week show, are unedited and designed to give viewers an in-depth look at where the candidates stand on education, the economy, the environment and other issues, the station said. At 9 p.m. Thursday, the same format will feature Katherine Harris , the Republican candidate for U.S. House District 13, and her Democratic challenger, Jan Schneider. Harris is the former Florida secretary of state who got international attention for her role during the 2000 presidential recount. The House seat she's seeking represents part of Southwest Florida, including Sarasota and Manatee counties. The show repeats Nov. 3 at 5:30 p.m. Harris and Schneider then debate at 6:30 p.m Nov. 3 in an event taped on Monday.
