Osbournes could return in November

LOS ANGELES -- The Ozzy Osbourne clan could return to MTV as early as November with the second season of their hit reality show.

MTV president Brian Graden says "all systems are go" for the show. However, the network may postpone the show, possibly to January, MTV spokeswoman Vanessa Reyes said.

Details on the upcoming shows were not released Tuesday.

Publicist starts 60-day sentence

RIVERHEAD, N.Y. -- New York publicist Lizzie Grubman, whose clients have included singer Britney Spears, was sentenced to two months in jail and 280 hours community service for driving into a crowd of 16 people outside a Hamptons nightclub.

Grubman, 31, backed a Mercedes sport utility vehicle into a group outside the Conscience Point Inn about 2 a.m. July 7, 2001, after nightclub bouncers told her to move the vehicle from a fire zone.

Before the sentence was imposed, Grubman apologized to the people who were injured, according to the Newsday Web site. "I once again want to say how sorry I am that I hurt people by my accidental actions," Grubman said. "I hope they find it in their hearts to forgive me. I'm haunted by the memory."

'Jenny Jones Show' death verdict overturned

LANSING, Mich. -- An appeals court Wednesday threw out a jury's $29.3-million verdict against the Jenny Jones Show, saying the program had no legal duty to protect a guest who was killed after revealing a gay crush.

In a 2-1 ruling, the Michigan Court of Appeals reversed the 1999 decision of a jury that found the owner of the often-raucous talk show, Warner Bros., and its distributor, Telepictures, liable for the slaying of Scott Amedure.

Jenny Jones said in a statement that she was "elated" by the ruling. "Scott Amedure's murder was a horrible tragedy, but I have always believed that it was fundamentally wrong and unfair to blame the show," she said.

Amedure family lawyer Geoffrey Fieger said he will appeal. Amedure was shot to death by Jonathan Schmitz in 1995, three days after Amedure revealed an attraction to Schmitz during a taping of the show in Chicago. Schmitz was convicted of murder and is in prison.
