Kelly Road might get new apartment complex

More apartments may be coming to Town 'N Country.

Sandspur Housing Partners submitted its plans recently to Hillsborough County for the 180-unit complex on 9 acres on Kelly Road, south of Hillsborough Avenue. The Maitland development company envisions seven apartment buildings, a clubhouse and a pool.

A zoning hearing master is scheduled to hear about the proposal Jan. 13. (Petition 03-0049)

CARROLLWOOD: The owner of 2 acres off Linebaugh Avenue east of Nixon Road is seeking a rezoning that would allow for manufacturing uses. According to the petition, the property is being eyed for a potential newspaper warehouse and distribution center. The land is now zoned to allow commercial uses. A zoning hearing officer is scheduled to hear the plans Dec. 9. (Petition 03-0044)

County commissioners voted to approve the following requests last week:

UPPER TAMPA BAY: Developer Ariel Quintela won a rezoning that would allow five homes on 3.25 acres at the southeast corner of State Street and Honeybee Lane. (Petition 02-1027)

TOWN 'N COUNTRY: Wal-Mart Inc. won unanimous approval of a request that will permit its store on Waters Avenue to expand its garden center, add seasonal enclosed storage and reduce the number of parking spaces in its lot. (Petition 02-0335)

A zoning hearing master is scheduled to hear the following petitions this week:

TOWN 'N COUNTRY: On Monday, a request to operate a realty office on a 1.6-acre site off Memorial Highway, southeast of Bay Crest Drive, will be considered. The applicant, Brando H. Pistorius, wants a rezoning that would allow him to convert a home into Transflor Realty. The property is now zoned for six homes to the acre. (Petition 02-1342)

CITRUS PARK: Outback Steakhouse wants an endorsement of a proposal that would allow it to add floor space to a commercial project planned for the southwest corner of Sheldon Road and Westwind Drive. It is scheduled to be heard Tuesday. (Petition 02-1149)

Hearings of county zoning hearing masters and land use hearing officers, and land use meetings of the County Commission are on the second floor of the County Center, 601 E Kennedy Blvd. Zoning hearings begin at 6 p.m., and commission meetings begin at 9 a.m. Both are televised on government access channels. Land use hearing officer hearings, which are not televised, begin at 9 a.m. For information, call 272-5920.
