There has been no talk this year of actually splitting the position now held by Jim Class, but commissioners over the summer decided that as the city grows, there might someday be a need, so the charter should be amended.
On the ballot, for Dade City residents only, the question that will appear reads: "Do you approve or disapprove of the Dade City charter revisions as proposed in ordinance no. 2002-0799 of the City Commission of Dade City, Florida, relating to the office of City Clerk/Finance Director."
A vote of "Yes" would approve the proposed changes. With approval, the city could change the charter, which spells out how the city is run and by which top-level positions.
