TAMPA -- A 3-year-old boy who shot himself with his father's handgun remained in critical condition Wednesday at Tampa General Hospital.

Quinn Burchfield was watching television with his sisters when he found a .32-caliber handgun inside his father's jeans, which had been left on a dresser in the room.

His parents were in another room when the boy began playing with the gun. He fired one bullet, which lodged in his neck.

It is unclear whether his father, Steven Burchfield, will face charges because the child got hold of the gun. Tampa police are investigating.
