CLEARWATER -- A man robbed the Republic Bank at 1235 S Missouri Ave. Thursday morning. The robber walked into the bank about 10:20 a.m. and handed a teller a note demanding money. No weapon was seen or referred to, said Clearwater police Detective Laura Spelman. The robber got the money and left on foot. Police searched the area but did not find the robber. No one was injured. Spelman said the robber's description is similar to that of a man who held up two other city banks in the past several weeks. "He's similar, but we're not sure if it's the same guy or not," the detective said. The robber is described as a white man in his early 30s with a pockmarked face. He is about 5 feet 10 and 150 pounds, has brown hair and was clean-shaven Thursday morning. He wore blue jeans, a light-colored T-shirt and a baseball cap. Anyone with information can call Clearwater police at 562-4242.
