    Verizon Music Festival

    See Al Jarreau, Kevin Ceballo, Shemekia Copeland, Chris Botti and Halcyon for free at 3 p.m. Saturday at Coachman Park on the waterfront in downtown Clearwater as the Verizon Music Festival sweeps into town. This is part of a nationwide four-city tour which hits New York City, Los Angeles and Washington, D.C., as well as the Tampa Bay area. The performances continue through Nov. 8. At 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, the Wayne Shorter Quartet and the Regina Carter Quintet will play the Tampa Theater ($36); at 8 p.m. Thursday, Boney James will perform at Clearwater's Ruth Eckerd Hall ($35.75-$39.75); and at 8 p.m. Nov. 8 Clint Black will also take the stage at Ruth Eckerd Hall ($45.50-$53.50).     Art show

    The 39th annual Art Harvest presented by the Junior League of Clearwater/Dunedin and the city of Dunedin will take place from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Saturday and Sunday at Highlander Park, southwest corner of Michigan Avenue and Pinehurst Road. This popular juried fine arts show and sale is well attended by shoppers and exhibitors. More than 200 artists from around the country compete in the following 12 categories: watercolor, mixed media, graphics, metal, fiber, sculpture, wood, ceramics, jewelry, glass, oil/acrylics and photography. They will vie for $20,000 in prize money and awards. Parking is $3 per car at site or $1 for round trip shuttle service from Causeway Plaza at the northwest corner of Curlew Road and Alt. U.S. 19. Parking also is available at Dunedin High School (it's a very short walk to Highlander Park from there). It's an event for the whole family. There will be a free children's tent offering hands-on art projects for children of all ages (the only catch is kids must be accompanied by an adult) and a food court with snacks, desserts, soft drinks and beer.     First Friday

    Resident artists Dorothy Briccetti and John Lowe will show their sculptures and paintings at the Trailside Artist Colony First Friday opening from 6:30 to 9 tonight at 464 Douglas Ave., Dunedin. In addition to the exhibits, there will be music and refreshments. Admission and parking are free. For information, call (727) 938-2236.

    CHAMBER MUSIC: The Sutherland Consort, a baroque ensemble, will play a public concert at the private home of Carol Alexander at 5:30 p.m. Saturday in Clearwater Beach. Members of the ensemble are Scott Garrett and Kevin Johnson on recorders and oboe, Theresa Villani on viola da gamba and Carol Alexander on harpsichord. Wine and cheese will be served at 5 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults, $10 for students. Children 11 and younger are free. Call (727) 446-7344 for reservations and directions.

    COMEDY SHOW: The Unprofessionals, a local improvisational comedy troupe, will perform comedic scenes based totally on audience suggestions at 8 tonight at the Tarpon Springs Cultural Center, 101 S Pinellas Ave. They play a variety of games, many with music and several with audience participation (it's similar to that seen on shows such as Whose Line Is It Anyway?).     SUNSETS AT PIER 60: Celebrate the end of the day with a festival of arts, crafts and entertainment two hours before and two hours after sunset daily at the Pier 60 Pavilion on Clearwater Beach. Tonight, it's Mandelay (classic songs); Saturday, it's Tanirum (rock); Sunday, it's Inside Out (rock and blues). Admission is free.

    TENNIS TOURNAMENT: You can help Danny Gorman, 11, by participating in a doubles tennis tournament at 8 a.m. Saturday at the Phil Green Academy at the Safety Harbor Resort and Spa, 105 N Bayshore Drive. Danny has been diagnosed with muscular dystrophy, and your entry fee contribution will help his family defray the cost of battling this life-threatening disease.
