GAINESVILLE -- Florida defensive end Bryan Savelio and his wife, Luisa, were involved in a domestic dispute Sunday, but no arrest was made and no charges were filed, University Police said.

Luisa Savelio, 24, called police Sunday afternoon after she became frightened by verbal abuse during an argument at the couple's Corry Village apartment, according to a police incident report.

According to the report, Savelio, 23, became angry when his wife was about 90 minutes late returning from church. He asked her to leave, but then refused to let her take their baby.

Luisa Savelio said she slapped her husband after he repeatedly called her derogatory names and he slapped her back. The police report states there was no evidence of physical harm. Savelio was referred to student judicial affairs to determine if he violated the student code of conduct. State Attorney Bill Cervone said because UPD deemed it appropriate to refer the case to judicial affairs, his office is not involved.

Florida coach Ron Zook said Savelio, who has played in all eight games and started in six, is not suspended and will play Saturday.
