Whooping cranes reach Indiana on journey southBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published November 4, 2002 CHASSAHOWITZKA -- The whooping cranes making their way to Citrus County from Wisconsin flew 48 miles Sunday morning. The cranes, trained to follow ultralight aircraft, are now in Boone County, Ind., and have traveled 335 miles of the 1,250-mile journey south.
