Homosassa's sea of plenty

Old Homosassa will be filled with the smell of shrimp and grouper frying on the grill this weekend during the 28th annual Homosassa Arts, Crafts and Seafood Festival. The event, which drew about 20,000 last year, takes place on the oak-lined streets of the historic Citrus County town where festivalgoers lined up to sample a variety of delicious treats.

At last year's festival, where hungry crowds, above, lined up for oysters, shrimp and more, Beverly Hills resident Joy Springer said, "This is Homosassa, and this is where the great seafood is."

The festival, which also features about 175 artists, craftsmen and entertainment, runs from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Saturday and Sunday along Mason Creek Road. Take U.S. 19 to Homosassa and follow signs. No pets allowed. Adult admission is $1. (352) 628-2666.
