Carrollwood residents warned to boil their water

CARROLLWOOD -- People served by wells in Original Carrollwood are being advised to boil their water throughout the weekend.

The water alert applies to about 1,200 customers served by Florida Governmental Utility Authority, formerly Florida Cities Water Co. The affected area is bound by Lake Ellen Drive on the north, Linebaugh Avenue and Orange Grove Drive on the south, N Dale Mabry Highway on the west and Lake Ridge Road and Carrollview Drive on the east.

As a precaution, customers should boil their water for five minutes before drinking it or preparing food with it.

Water company officials expect to lift the ban Monday morning. They sent out the alert about 5 p.m. Friday because of a power outage that lowered water pressure.
