I've enjoyed the series on the two young basketball players (A Basketball Bond) written by Pete Young. I'm glad the writer, the editor and the newspaper take such care with women's sports. Although most of us who've been following this story don't live in Florida, the Internet makes it as though the girls live next door. Thanks to you all for your excellent sportswriting and editing.

I am very excited to see Lou Piniella as the new Devil Rays manager. It is finally time to have a little hope on the field. But by no means should the Rays stop here. We must finally bring in a veteran who can contribute. This is an organization that has been plagued with bad deals since the beginning. With that said, welcome aboard Lou, bring us a championship.

Baseball should take a cue from weightlifting and have separate awards and records for the athletes that are natural and those that use performance-enhancing drugs. That way Barry Bonds can have his MVP and Randy Johnson can have his Cy Young. Bonds and Sammy Sosa can accumulate records and they won't taint the real records that legitimate, tested athletes can attain. Just a thought.
