Motorcyclist loses leg in crash

SPRING LAKE -- A 29-year-old lost his leg Sunday when his motorcycle went into the path of an oncoming car, according to a report from the Florida Highway Patrol. At about 10:45 a.m., Harry Bellamy was westbound on Powell Road east of Batten Road when he tried to pass a car ahead of him in a no-passing zone and entered the path of an oncoming car. Bellamy's lower left leg was severed in the crash, and he was flown to Tampa General Hospital.
