Suspect arrested in actor's slaying

LOS ANGELES -- A young woman was arrested Monday in connection with the slaying of actor Merlin Santana, who was gunned down two days earlier as he sat in a parked car in South Los Angeles.

Santana, 26, best known for his role as Romeo Santana on The Steve Harvey Show, was shot in the 3800 block of Victoria Avenue, a quiet residential street.

"We have one person in custody. We aren't releasing further details because it could jeopardize the ongoing investigation," Los Angeles police Officer Jason Lee said.

After the suspect was taken into custody, police determined she was a juvenile, authorities said.

Santana, of Los Angeles, was fatally shot about 2:45 a.m. Saturday after at least one person approached the vehicle, police said.
