Side showBy SHARON FINK, Times Staff Writer© St. Petersburg Times published November 14, 2002 TODAY'S THE DAY: Sean "P. Diddy" Combs did the gentlemanly thing when asked to comment on the latest engagement of ex-girlfriend Jennifer Lopez. The man once in line to be the second ex-Mr. Lopez (he came after husband No. 1 and before No. 2) told Reuters, "I hope it works out," while in Barcelona, Spain, on Tuesday for the MTV Europe Music Awards. He also wished Lopez luck (but not her fiance, Ben Affleck, who needs it more) and said marriage is "a beautiful thing." Combs and Lopez are nominated for awards at tonight's ceremony, but gentleman that he is, he said he didn't feel like Lopez was upstaging him when confirmation of the long-rumored engagement was made early in the week. "By Thursday, everyone will be focused on me again," he said. AND PASS THE COURVOISIER: Diddy is also hosting the MTV Europe Music Awards, and he is happy to say that no one has made more diva demands than him. Among them: copies of the movie Scarface. The biggest stir he caused at a news conference, though, was with a pair of laceup shoes he had just bought in Barcelona. He left the price tag on one heel, and reporters were attempting Cirque du Soleil moves to get a look at it (335 euros, about $339, according to two British papers). MORE FROM THE 'IT'S ALL RELATIVE DEPARTMENT': The most complained-about movie of the year in Australia is Baise-Moi, a French film about two rape victims who embark on a sexually violent revenge. The movie ended up being banned in Australia by the film classification board -- in some instances, police were sent to theaters to stop screenings, the Sydney Morning Herald says -- and 148 complaints were registered with the board. This brings us to the second-most-complained-about film: Scooby-Doo. At least 17 people felt strongly enough to officially protest, Australia's Herald Sun says. But apart from a general objection to the G rating not being appropriate, there was no indication of what they specifically didn't like. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
