Father faces child abuse charges

HERNANDO -- A man was arrested and accused of child abuse Wednesday night after his 15-year-old daughter told authorities he pushed her, struck her and stomped on her ankle. Michael Denny, 42, remained at the Citrus County jail Thursday with bail set at $8,000. The girl told Citrus County sheriff's deputies her father struck her during an argument at their Hernando home. She also said Denny threatened to kill her and punched the car windows as she and her mother tried to drive away. Denny showed signs of being under the influence of alcohol, according to the arrest report.
