Lutz takes on taste of barbecue, bric-a-brac
By Times staff writer LUTZ -- Pasta, barbecue, sandwiches, popcorn, shaved ice and soup -- some of it free -- will beckon visitors Saturday at Lutz's Market in the Park and Taste of Lutz. The annual flea market has grown to more than 60 booths, said Auralee Buckingham, who chairs it for the sponsor, the Lutz Civic Association. "I have a little of this, a little of that," she said. "It's going to be a lot of fun this year." The mix is eclectic. Vendors plan to sell jewelry, plants, fresh produce, homemade furniture and other items. "I have quite a few Christmas-type booths," Buckingham said. "I have a guy who took four spaces for antiques." The Lutz-Land O'Lakes Woman's Club is selling plants, baked goods and garage sale items. The Friends of the Lutz Library plan to sell used books. Most restaurants are expected to offer $1 snacks. Buckingham said Rod Gaudin, owner of Hot Rod's BBQ and Grill, planned to return but wouldn't commit to a specific dish. Last year, Gaudin sold 400 barbecued turkey legs in three hours. "He ran out before the end of the thing," Buckingham said. "I couldn't believe he sold that many." © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • Tampa Bay Times
