NORTHDALE -- Former Northdale Special Tax District member Kevin Ambler resigned from the board last month in the days leading up to his election as a state representative. If that weren't reason enough, Ambler also has his home on the market and plans to move out of the community by year's end.

So with a vacant seat on the nine-member panel, resident Nancy Stearns got a second chance to serve and easily won election. Stearns, an officer with the Northdale Community Association, ran for a seat last month but was narrowly defeated.

Stearns, a 23-year resident of Northdale, is a retired property manager who co-founded the Carrollwood Players theater group in 1981. Stearns said she hopes to bring a new perspective to board business.

"I thought it was time for a breath of fresh air," she said.
