Festival highlights countywide services
More than 100 government and nonprofit organizations will be represented at the Good Community Fair from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Lowry Park Zoo Bandshell. Organizations that offer educational, family, health, nature, neighborhood and cultural services will be on hand. Check out groups as varied as the Consumer Action Network, Adult Literacy Outreach, Florida Prostate Cancer Society, DACCO and Boys and Girls Clubs.
"The purpose is to celebrate what is good about our community and to encourage volunteerism," Community Fair co-chairman Art Keeble said. "It's a great way for people to get to know what's available in Hillsborough County."
School bands, choirs and dance troops will entertain. As part of the festivities, one free child's admission to the zoo will accompany one paid adult admission. Seniors can buy one admission and get a second free. Bring a canned good to donate to Divine Providence Food Bank. The park is at 1101 W Sligh Ave. For information, call 276-8250.
