Big East: Late field goal lifts Owls past Rutgers

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Tanardo Sharps carried a Big East record 48 times for 215 yards and set up Cap Poklemba's winning 22-yard field goal with 39 seconds left to rally Temple to a 20-17 victory over Rutgers on Saturday.

PISCATAWAY, N.J. -- Tanardo Sharps carried a Big East record 48 times for 215 yards and set up Cap Poklemba's winning 22-yard field goal with 39 seconds left to rally Temple to a 20-17 victory over Rutgers on Saturday.

Sharps' 48 carries broke Temple's single-game record of 44 set by Paul Palmer in 1986 and the conference mark of 41 set by West Virginia's Amos Zereoue in 1997.

BC 41, SYRACUSE 20: Derrick Knight rushed for 171 yards and two TDs to surpass 1,000 yards for the host Eagles. Walter Reyes had 95 yards on 14 carries for the Orangemen and scored on an 8-yard run in the third. It was his 16th TD of the season, extending his school record.
