Airman 1st Class Joseph Bryan Van Doren, son of Renee Stefansic and Greg Van Doren of St. Petersburg and Bryan Martinez of Montgomery, Ala., has completed aircraft structural maintenance training at the Naval Air Station in Pensacola. He will be stationed at McConnell Air Force Base in Wichita, Kan. He is a 1998 graduate of St. Petersburg High School.

Robert A. Grimmer, son of Robert M. and Sandi Grimmer, completed basic training at Great Lakes Naval Training Center, Great Lakes, Ill. He will remain in Great Lakes to continue training in advanced electronics. He is a 2000 graduate of Pinellas Park High School.

Ensign Emily W. Burgess, daughter of Lee and Tom Burgess of St. Petersburg, received the Admiral Arleigh Burke Award from the Surface Warfare Officers School Command for leadership and academic excellence. She is a 2002 graduate of the U.S. Naval Academy.

Air Force Technical Sgt. Robert D. Patt, son of Walter and Lynn Patt of Pinellas Park, has been selected as the Distinguished Graduate of the Non-Commissioned Officers Academy at Hickam Air Force Base, Honolulu, for demonstrated leadership and academic excellence. He is the non-commissioned officer in command of the 56th Air Communication Squadron stationed at Hickam Air Force Base. Patt is a 1989 graduate of Dixie Hollins High School.

Pvt. Daniel R. Milstid, son of Sam Milstid and Mike Fisher of Seminole and Allen and Shannon Comer of Warner Robins, Ga., has completed Marine boot camp at Parris Island, S.C., and is stationed at Camp Lejeune, N.C. He is a 2002 graduate of Seminole High School.

Coast Guard Fireman Apprentice Amanda A. Hurst, daughter of Wanda Bailey of St. Petersburg, recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center, Cape May, N.J., and was promoted to her current rank.
