Two accident victims flown to Tampa hospital
HOMOSASSA SPRINGS -- Emergency crews on Wednesday took two men by helicopter to Tampa General Hospital after a vehicle wreck on Oak Lawn Street, the Citrus County Sheriff's Office reported. About 3:12 p.m. Wednesday, authorities were called to Oak Lawn and Orwell Point, the Sheriff's Office said. Lawrence Getts had slowed his car to ask a pedestrian for directions and was hit from behind by a car driven by Franklin Foster. Getts, 52, of Crystal River and Foster, 62, of Homosassa were transported for treatment. A boy, 4, and girl, 5, who were riding in Foster's vehicle, were not injured, the Sheriff's Office reported.
HUDSON -- An unidentified woman was killed trying to cross U.S. 19 north of State Road 52 late Tuesday night, the Florida Highway Patrol reported. According to a report, the woman walked west across U.S. 19 at 11:29 p.m. and got to the northbound lane next to the median when she was struck by a car. Driver James Dono and passenger Suzanne Sump, both of Homosassa, were not injured. The woman was pronounced dead at the scene.
