Boy reports strangerBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published November 23, 2002 LUTZ -- A 12-year-old boy told investigators this week that a stranger tried to lure him into a van in the Twin Lakes community, then chased him when he ran, according to reports. The Pasco County Sheriff's Office reported the boy was walking home from Denham Oaks Elementary School about 3:55 p.m. Thursday near the intersection of Oak Grove Boulevard and Royal Fern Drive when a van pulled up and a man inside asked if he wanted chewing gum. The boy said that as he walked away, the man got out of the van and began walking toward him. The boy said that he ran and the man tried to keep up, but quit after a few steps. The boy's mother said her son arrived home out of breath. The vehicle was described as a white Ford utility van with concrete splattered on one side. © 2006 • All Rights Reserved • St. Petersburg Times
