THANKSGIVING DINNER: Grace Lutheran Church will host its annual Thanksgiving Dinner at 5 p.m. today at Gaither High School, 16200 N Dale Mabry Highway. Bring a dish to share. Cost is $3 per person. The gym will be open with supervision for young children to participate in crafts. Reservations are requested. Call 961-8747.

THANKSGIVING DINNER: St. Clement's Episcopal Church, 706 W 113th Ave., is having its annual Thanksgiving Dinner from noon to 2 p.m. Thursday. Members of the parish contribute food and prepare and serve dinner as an outreach to the community for those who live in North Tampa. Call 932-6204.

SINCERELY SANTA: The Women's Club of Hunter's Green is collecting for its annual Sincerely Santa gift donation event. People are asked to select a Dear Santa letter from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the Hunter's Green Sports Center, 18050 Hunter's Oak Court. Donations are for disadvantaged elementary students living in Hillsborough County. Gifts can be dropped off from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Dec. 7 at the sports center. Call 973-4872.

HANGING OF THE GREENS: Keystone United Methodist Church, 16301 Race Track Road, will have a "Hanging of the Greens" service at 7 p.m. Dec. 1. A cookie social will immediately follow. Call 920-5153.

ADVENT FESTIVAL: St. Clement's Episcopal Church, 706 W 113th Ave., is having an Advent Festival of Lessons and Carols at 5 p.m. Dec. 1. Church choirs from Grace Episcopal, St. Catherine's Episcopal and St. Mark's Episcopal will participate in the service with St. Clement's Episcopal. CHRISTMAS PROGRAM: The Praise Choir and Orchestra at Carrollwood Baptist Church, 5395 Ehrlich Road, will present the program "I Have Seen the Light" at 6 p.m. Dec. 1. Call 962-3214. CHRISTMAS DINNER: AARP Greater Keystone Chapter No. 3555 will host its annual Christmas Dinner at Keystone United Methodist Church, 16301 Race Track Road. The covered-dish dinner will begin at noon Dec. 2. There will be a program featuring holiday music, and officers for 2003 will be installed. Members are asked to bring toys or nonperishable items for the Spring of Tampa Bay. Bring a friend. Call 920-2586.

HANUKKAH POTLUCK LUNCHEON: The Bay Horizons Chapter of Women's American ORT (Organization for Educational Resources and Technical training) will host a Hanukkah covered-dish potluck luncheon. The event will begin at 10:30 a.m. Dec. 3 at the Plantation Clubhouse in the Plantation subdivision, off Gunn Highway. All members and guests are welcome. HOLIDAY PARTY: The Tampa Bay Chapter of the Scoliosis Association will host its holiday party from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Dec. 3 at Westcoast Brace & Limb, 5311 E Fletcher Ave. The celebration will feature the movie Dealing With Scoliosis: A Patient's Guide to Diagnosis and Treatment. The event is for adolescents and adults with scoliosis or other spinal problems and their families. Dinner, refreshments and holiday treats will be served. Reservations are requested by Dec. 2. LUMINARIAS FOR SALE: The Tampa Palms Women's Club will be selling luminarias in front of Publix Supermarket, City Plaza Shopping Center on Bruce B. Downs Boulevard, beginning Dec. 5. The cost is $2.50 for five or $5 for 10; free sand for the paper bags will be available in the parking lot at Compton Park. Proceeds will be donated to local charitable organizations and used for the Tampa Palms Women's Club Scholarship at the University of South Florida. Residents of Tampa Palms will place the luminarias, sand-weighted paper bags containing candles, in 3- to 4-foot intervals on the sidewalks in front of their homes. The lighting of the candles will be at 7 p.m. Dec. 24 (rain date is Dec. 25). The tradition of lighting the luminarias symbolizes fellowship and good will. Call 975-1224.

HOLIDAY BAZAAR: The Rocky Creek Village Retirement Village is sponsoring a two-day Holiday Bazaar from 3 to 5:30 p.m. Dec. 6 and 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. Dec 7. Highlights include the sale of arts and crafts, baked goods, ceramics, Avon products, raffle tickets, plants and white elephant items. Vendors may reserve a table for $10. Also, RCV Advantage Home Health will provide free blood pressure checks and answer health care questions. In addition, a pancake breakfast will be available from 7:30 to 9 a.m. Dec. 7. Menu includes pancakes or French toast, bacon or sausage, hot syrup, whipped butter and coffee or juice. The cost is $3 in advance, $3.50 at the door. Reservations are requested. Call 884-3388.

HOLIDAY TREE LIGHTING: Carrollwood Sertoma will present its Holiday Tree Lighting from 5 to 8 p.m. Dec. 7 at the Colonial Promenade Shopping Center on N Dale Mabry Highway at Northdale Boulevard. Highlights will include pictures with Santa, a kickoff for the Toys for Tots drive, prizes and fun fun for the whole family. Proceeds benefit the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society. HANUKKAH POTLUCK LATKE PARTY: The Tampa Bay Jewish Single Parent Network is hosting a Hanukkah Potluck Latke Party from 2 to 5 p.m. Dec. 8. The event will be at the home of a member. Reservations are required. Call 960-1848.

HANDEL'S 'MESSIAH': The Chancel Choir of Grace Lutheran Church, 3714 W Linebaugh Ave., will present the masterpiece Handel's Messiah at its 8:30 and 11 a.m. services Dec. 8. The choir, conducted by Tom Tietjen, will be accompanied by a small orchestra and organist Jim Sawyers. A supervised nursery is available. Call 961-8747.

HOLIDAY TOY/CLOTHING DRIVE: Realtor Jennifer Lindner is kicking off her third annual Holiday Toy and Clothing Drive. The drive will benefit the Lake Magdalene Children's Emergency Shelter. People are needed to "Adopt an Angel" to fulfill the Holiday Wish List of a child at the shelter. Items most needed are new sneakers (sizes 5-10), new socks and underwear, new stuffed animals and age-appropriate stocking stuffers. An Angel card with the child's wish list of toys and clothing sizes may be requested. Donations will be accepted through Dec. 20. Arrangements can be made to have donations picked up or dropped off. HOLIDAY SPONSORS SOUGHT: The Jewish Family Services, 13009 Community Campus Drive, is seeking holiday sponsors for families, seniors and individuals. Donations of food and unwrapped toys, store gift certificates, new clothing, books for all ages, dolls, board games and wrapping paper are among items needed. This act of Tzedakah (giving) is to insure a joyful holiday season for those in the community in need of help. Call 960-1848.
