The familiar fat guy arrives Friday morning for the annual Seminole Mall parade.

SEMINOLE -- There will be plenty of activities in town to put people in the holiday spirit from concerts to sleigh rides to visits with Santa.
The jolly guy will make his grand entrance in Seminole on Friday when Seminole Mall hosts its annual Christmas parade. The parade will begin at 9 a.m. The route starts on Johnson Boulevard and circles the mall.
Mayor Dottie Reeder will light the city's Christmas tree on Dec. 9 at Seminole City Park, 7564 Ridge Road. The annual ceremony will start at 6 p.m. with music by Seminole Middle School's chorale. Reeder will turn the tree's lights on at 6:45 p.m., and Celebration, a local dance troupe, will present a holiday show at 7:15 p.m.
The city may have saved the best for last with its Winterfest Holiday Festival. The third annual event will be from 5 to 9 p.m. Dec. 14 at Seminole City Park.
Kids can ride a sleigh down a hill of snow, listen to the classic story Twas the Night Before Christmas, make holiday craft items and give Santa Clause their wish list.
The festival also will feature entertainment by The Bommerz, an oldies group, and the Seminole High School Singers.
Refreshments will be sold at both park events. Admission is free. Call 391-8345.
