CHASSAHOWITZKA -- The whooping cranes traveling to Citrus County made their longest flight yet Monday, 107 miles, allowing them to skip one of the planned stops in Georgia.
The cranes -- following ultralight aircraft -- were in the air for 2 hours, 15 minutes before landing in Pike County, Ga., about 366 miles from Chassahowitzka National Wildlife Refuge. To track their progress and learn more about the project, visit www.operationmigration.org.
