Joyner returns to radio in Tampa Bay area

Good news for Tampa Bay area fans of Tom Joyner: After a nearly four month hiatus, the popular radio host is coming back to the local airwaves.

Starting Monday he'll be in his old 6-10 a.m. weekday time slot on WTMP-AM 1150. The station dropped Joyner after it could not work out a deal with ABC Networks, but after further negotiations, a new contract was agreed upon.

Glenn Cherry, WTMP's general manager, said he did not have ratings figures to indicate how the loss of Joyner affected listenership. "But I can tell from the volume of phone calls and the number of people who would accost me in the street to ask me when Tom Joyner is coming back that there will be some very happy people on Monday," Cherry said.

In Backstreet Boys news

Meet the newest Backstreet Boy: Baylee Thomas Wylee Littrell.

Baby Baylee, the spawn of Backstreeter Brian Littrell and wife Leighanne, made his entrance Tuesday night in Atlanta, weighing 6 pounds, 7 ounces, reports E! Online.

Meanwhile, Littrell and his fellow Boys are headed to court.

They have filed a breach-of-contract lawsuit against their corporate bosses, accusing Zomba Recording, in part, of attempting to undermine their collective career by promoting Backstreeter Nick Carter's solo one.

The suit, filed Monday in Manhattan federal court on behalf of all the Boys, also accuses Zomba, parent company of Jive Records, of trademark infringement and unfair competition.

'Providence' may go on

NBC may spare Providence.

Jeff Zucker, NBC's entertainment president, said he's reconsidering his decision in October to cancel the drama after four years.

"I'm not afraid to admit I may have made a mistake, and we'll see," Zucker said Tuesday.

Last week, Providence ranked 41st among primetime shows but has been losing younger viewers, whom advertisers favor.

A two-hour episode, intended to be the series finale, will air Dec. 20. It's now simply being labeled a "finale," Zucker said.
