Cowans has 21 to lead FAU in rout

BOCA RATON -- Jeff Cowans scored a game-high 21 points as Florida Atlantic routed Nova Southeastern 86-60 on Wednesday.

Cowans was 9-for-17 from the field to lead the Owls. Earnest Crumbley added 18 points and eight assists and Avery Headley had 15 points for FAU. Wes Edwards set a school record with eight blocks.

Brandon Weiss led Nova Southeastern with 16 points and Eduardo Reguera and Kluis Wimbush added 12 apiece.

FAU took a 39-25 lead at halftime, bolstered by 56 percent shooting in the first half.

Nova Southeastern shot poorly during the first half, connecting on 9-of-34 field goal attempts.
