Pam Iorio says she's rethinking the Tampa mayor's race -- she had decided to bow out -- and the only thing we can say is:
As elections supervisor in Hillsborough, Iorio moved the county into the computer age. She persuaded the County Commission to buy touch-screen voting machines, put campaign finance reports on the Web and generally made her office more professional.
We don't know what agenda she'd pursue as mayor, or what her county experience means to a city constituency. But she at least would enliven the current mayoral field, and her seriousness would raise the level of debate.
And that's the point of elections -- to have a choice.
