Four teens suspected in string of robberiesBy Times staff writer© St. Petersburg Times published December 2, 2002 TAMPA -- Four teenagers were arrested Saturday night after four robberies at north Tampa businesses, police said. Officers spotted the suspects in a red 1994 Ford Mustang at about 11 p.m. in the area of Florida Avenue and Knollwood Street. The suspects drove off and lost control, hitting a fence near Sligh Avenue and N 30th Street. The teens, ages 16 to 19, tried to run away but were caught by police. A fifth suspect escaped but was identified. The four were arrested in connection with robberies at the Best Economy Inn on Busch Boulevard, a check-cashing business on Yukon Street and a 7-Eleven on Waters Avenue. They also were accused of robbing a woman in the parking lot of the Kash 'N Karry on Hillsborough Avenue. Police charged Eric Duberry, 18, of Tampa, with robbery, fleeing police, driving without a license, obstructing an officer and leaving the scene of a crash.
