Coach Jon Gruden on the play of quarterback Brad Johnson:

"He played very (well). He's a really good player. We didn't get enough done around him tonight in all areas. But, that's one good quarterback that we have."

* * *

Gruden on the running game:

"We're not running the ball at an acceptable level right now. I'm not going to sit here and say that it's the back or the right guard or the play calling. Right now we are a little bit one dimensional."

* * *

Gruden on the overall effort:

"The one thing I'll walk away feeling good about is the fight in this football team. These guys played 60 minutes."

* * *

Gruden on special teams:

"Our return game was a nonfactor. Again, we had a couple of penalties to compound the field position."

* * *

Gruden on the Saints offensive line in second half:

"We can't get there every time. I think we have the assumption that we're going to sack the guy every time he passes. ... To be honest with you, they get a huge play on third and long on the opening drive of the second half that really swayed the momentum. But our defense had a good pass rush, I felt, most of the night."

Saints coach Jim Haslett on playoff ramifications of the win:

"This is kind of a round-robin. We beat Tampa twice. Atlanta beat us twice. Hopefully, Tampa will beat Atlanta next week and we'll just pass the thing around."

* * *

Backup QB Jake Delhomme on his first-down pass that sealed the win:

"I didn't make the call at the line. I had the option to throw it or hand it off to Deuce (McAllister). Joe (Horn) beat the guy, and it was actually a pretty easy throw. If I can't make that throw, then I shouldn't be in this league."

RB Deuce McAllister on playing his first game after missing a game with an ankle injury:

"There were certain things that I could do well and certain things that I couldn't. There were a couple of cuts that I couldn't make that I wanted to get into."

* * *

McAllister on the productive Saints offense:

"The playmakers stepped up and made plays. We had a meeting on Wednesday. Everyone who wanted to say something spoke. We basically said how we felt and what we needed to get done. This was the team we had to start against."
