GAINESVILLE -- The Florida women's volleyball team (30-2) is the No. 5 seed in the East bracket of the NCAA Tournament and a first-round host.
The Gators face Central Florida (22-12) at 7 p.m. Friday.
"We're thrilled with it," UF coach Mary Wise said. "To get a fifth seed is great."
Florida was in contention for one of the top four seeds before losing to Northern Iowa in the championship of the Conference Challenge on Saturday in Orlando. Northern Iowa (32-2) is the top seed in the East.
"We look forward to playing at home," Florida blocker Nicole McCray said. "We play Central Florida Friday night, and that's our focus right now."
Florida State (21-12) and South Florida (29-6) play at the O'Connell Center at 5 p.m. on Friday. The winners Friday play at 7 Saturday.
USF beat FSU and UCF 3-2. The Bulls have not played Florida. The Gators are 7-2 against the field and 3-1 against teams in the East.
Tickets are on sale at the University Athletic Association Ticket Office and until Friday must be purchased in a package (all three matches). Prices are $10 for general admission, $6 for students and senior citizens and $4 for 12 and under.
