Navy Airman Jesse E. Blankenship, son of Debbie A. Beck of Largo and John H. Blankenship of Edgewater, Md., recently departed for assignment aboard the aircraft carrier USS Kitty Hawk, permanently deployed in Yokosuka, Japan. Blankenship is a 1999 graduate of Largo High School and joined the Navy in October 2001.

Coast Guard Seaman Joseph P. Zemchak, son of Sandra A. Zemchak of Pinellas Park and Joseph F. Zemchak of Clearwater, recently graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J. He is a 1996 graduate of Gibbs High School.

Cadet Matthew Lee Green, son of Ron and Donna Green of Seminole, has completed Cadet Basic Training at the U.S. Military Academy at West Point. A 2002 graduate of Seminole High School, Green plans to graduate in 2006 from West Point and be commissioned as a second lieutenant in the Army.

Army Pvt. Scott J. Williams, son of James and Susan Walker of Pinellas Park, has graduated from Army Basic Training at Fort Sill, Okla., and will report to Fort Leonard Wood, Mo., for advanced individual training in motor vehicle transportation. After completing his training, he will report to the 25th (Light) Infantry Division in Hawaii. Williams is a 2002 graduate of Pinellas Park High School.

Navy Seaman James A. Maley, son of Suzanne M. Bowman of Pinellas Park, recently departed for the Western Pacific, where he is assigned to the USS Kitty Hawk, a U.S. aircraft carrier permanently deployed in Yokosuka, Japan. Maley joined the Navy in October 2001.

Navy Airman Recruit Barrie E. Hager, sister of William R. Hager of Largo, recently reported for duty aboard the aircraft carrier USS George Washington, home port Norfolk, Va. Hager is a 1998 graduate of Canton McKinley High School, Canton, and joined the Navy in February.

Navy Ensign Matthew R. Allen, son of Valerie I. Cadonet of Gulfport and Robert R. Allen of Lexington Park, Md., recently received his commission as a naval officer after completing Officer Candidate School at Naval Aviation Schools Command, Naval Air Station, Pensacola. Allen is a 1993 graduate of St. Petersburg High School.
