CLEARWATER -- The motorcyclist who collided with a woman as she rode her bicycle across Drew Street, killing her, has pleaded not guilty to a charge that he violated a traffic control device in the collision.

According to Pinellas County court records, Clearwater resident Joseph F. Beck was arraigned Tuesday on charges stemming from the Nov. 7 crash that killed Josianne Bergstrom, a member of the Church of Scientology. Bergstrom, 53, was pedaling a bicycle southeast across Drew Street that evening when her bike collided with Beck's motorcycle, which was traveling west. Bergstrom was pronounced dead at the scene.

Beck, 40, was taken by helicopter to Bayfront Medical Center, where he was treated and released. A hearing is scheduled for Feb. 3.
