Motorcycle parts company to relocate

Performance Industries, which makes after-market parts for motorcycles, plans to build a 10,000-square-foot building in West Pasco Industrial Park in Odessa.

The 7-year-old company has a staff of nine, and has been renting a 2,800-square-foot space in Port Richey, which it has outgrown. The company is spending about $400,000 on the project. Performance Industries plans to add more employees as the company grows.

Deputies warn parents about buying ATVs

The Pasco County Sheriff's Office is warning parents to think about the law before buying an all-terrain vehicle for a holiday gift. Sheriff's agricultural deputies arrest ATV riders several times a week for trespassing on private property or riding on roadsides, both illegal in Florida.

"If you are going to get an ATV, be sure you have a place to ride it," Cpl. Matt Roach said Wednesday.

He said deputies are often confronted with parents who bought ATVs for their children, only to find out that riding on roadsides or private property is illegal. Roach said if someone on an ATV is found on land with fences, crops or no trespassing signs, "that was their warning," and they face arrest and having the ATV impounded.
