Whether you seek a stocking-stuffer or the big gift under the tree, here are some tools and gadgets that may please recipients this holiday season.

The drill radio from Ryobi. This combines an AM/FM radio and a battery charger for an 8.6-volt cordless drill. There's a tool rest on top where you can set the drill while you work. This is $29.97 at Home Depot.

Laserline generator from American Tool. This is fun to play with. It projects a laser line vertically, horizontally or at any angle. Goodbye, uneven shelves, crooked wallpaper and wavy chair rail. $39.97 at Home Depot.

Garden on the Go: A chest holds shears, trowel, pruner, cultivator and more in its drawers. It doubles as a stool, or use the cushioned top as a kneepad. Home Depot, $59.

Silver steel 23-inch-long tool box from Stanley has two nylon pockets on the sides to hold small items, gloves, cell phone. An angled saw groove on the lid is handy for sawing small pieces of lumber and pipes. It's $35 at Target, home centers and hardware stores.

ZAG folding workbench from Stanley can be used as a sawhorse, workbench or vise. The maker claims the workbench can be adjusted in less than 10 seconds. Vise clamps hold materials for sawing, cutting, measuring and sanding. Anti-slip rubber soles; 20-by-27-inch work surface; one shelf; holds up to 500 pounds. Weighs 14 pounds and is 41/2 inches wide when folded. It's $40 at hardware stores and home centers.

The Audio Lumifier from Zelco is $29.

For the Dremel enthusiast on your gift list, the company has introduced the Dremelite, which attaches to both cordless and corded versions of its rotary tool and shines a light directly on your project. (It's shown here attached to the cordless 9.6-volt Dremel Multipro, which accepts all the company's attachments; $69.) Handy when you're working in tight areas or on detailed projects. It's $14.99 at home centers, hardware stores and hobby shops.

When you want to slide, use the swivel-cap surface. When you need traction, slip on the all-terrain cap.
