Chucky's chalk talk

On the Falcons' underrated defense:

"No one's talking about their defense. But when it's all said and done, this defense has had as much to do with the uprising of Atlanta as anyone.

"They know what they're doing, they're very disciplined, they're a very physical front seven. They have shutdown corners there in (Ray) Buchanan and (Ashley) Ambrose. I'm impressed with (Juran) Bolden, he's been a real good coverage man for them. Both safeties have a history in the 3-4 defense, are firm tacklers and good space players. They've been impressive. And (Patrick) Kerney is really rushing the passer."

On fixing the Bucs' 31st-ranked rushing attack:

"I'm not going to lose confidence in it, I'm not going to do it. At the same time, it's hard to make first downs, it's hard to convert third and 8's and third and 7's. We've got to do a better job. But there's a fine line there in the philosophy of what to call and when to call. Success has a way of leaving an impression on you and lack of success leaves an impression on any of us."

On the Falcons' eight-game unbeaten streak:

"Last time we saw them I think everybody said we haven't played anybody. ... This is a good team. They're well-coached. And they've got talent. And this quarterback makes them very unique on offense and the 3-4 defense makes them very unique on defense. I think the win in New York (after the Bucs' victory at Atlanta) really did a lot for this team's confidence and they haven't got off the gas pedal since then."
