BUSHNELL -- A fan was arrested for trying to punch South Sumter coach Inman Sherman after the team's 17-14 loss to Jacksonville Bolles on Friday, authorities said.
Robert Martin threw a punch at Sherman after the Raiders failed to advance to the Class 2A state final in Tallahassee.
Sherman was shaking hands with fans and players after the game when Martin approached and said, "Hey, coach," before swinging at him, The Daily Commercial in Leesburg reported Saturday.
A nearby deputy immediately wrestled Martin to the ground and handcuffed him.
Martin, 30, is charged with battery on a school official and resisting arrest without violence. He was released from the Sumter County Jail Friday night after paying $5,500 bond. Martin could not be reached for comment.
