Real estate agent puts franchise on market
By JENNIFER GOLDBLATT, Times Staff Writer
PORT RICHEY -- A household name in the west Pasco real estate world has put his own franchise on the market. Mark Swartsel has sold RE/MAX Advantage to the president of RE/MAX's Florida operations, Don Hackenberger. Swartsel, 51, said he wants to spend more time with his three young sons. "I've been desperately trying to find an hour or two in the day that I could spend with them," said Swartsel, who has owned the franchise for 17 years. He also says he wants to refocus on being a broker, and will remain one at the office. "My first love has always been listing and selling real estate and in all honesty, management has never been my first love." Hackenberger, of Orlando, could not be reached for comment this week. The sale price was not disclosed. Sam Jacobs, 60, has taken over management for the office. Jacobs has more than 20 years of experience in residential real estate and has been with RE/MAX for 10 years. He is president-elect of the West Pasco Board of Realtors. About 55 agents are based in the RE/MAX Advantage office, which is at the southeast corner of Ridge Road and U.S. 19. -- Jennifer Goldblatt covers business in Pasco County.
