Marine Corps Pvt. S.D. Thompson, son of Victoria M. Thompson of Seminole, has completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. Thompson is a 2001 graduate of Seminole High School.

Marine Corps Pvt. Brian A. McCourt, son of Mr. and Mrs. Doyle F. McCourt of Pinellas Park, recently completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. McCourt is a 2002 graduate of Gibbs High School.

Pfc. James Eric Gould, son of Curt and April Gould of Seminole, recently graduated from Marine Corp basic training in Parris Island, S.C., and earned the rifle expert badge. He will go on to Camp Lejeune, N.C., for advanced training. He is a 2001 graduate of Seminole High School.

Coast Guard Fireman Apprentice Michael Van Nguyen, son of Christine M. and Darin A. Merritt of St. Petersburg, has graduated from the U.S. Coast Guard Recruit Training Center in Cape May, N.J.

Marine Corps Pvt. Brett C. Seitz, son of Karin E. and Charles Seitz of St. Petersburg, has completed basic training at Marine Corps Recruit Depot, Parris Island, S.C. He is a 2002 graduate of St. Petersburg High School.
