SUNRISE -- Simon Gagne scored two unassisted goals as the Flyers beat the Panthers 5-2 Tuesday night.

Dennis Seidenberg, Andre Savage and Justin Williams also scored for Philadelphia. The five-goal outburst broke the Flyers' team-record streak of 16 games without scoring more than three goals. They scored 22 in that span.

Gagne doubled his season total to four goals and Robert Esche had 24 saves for Philadelphia.

"He (Gagne) could have had five or six tonight," Philadelphia coach Ken Hitchcock said. "He had a lot of chances and the line was good. We had a lot of good performances."

Ivan Novoseltsev and Olli Jokinen scored for Florida, who got 35 saves from Roberto Luongo.

CANADIENS 4, BRUINS 2: Jeff Hackett stopped 31 shots, including all 14 he faced in the third period, for visiting Montreal, which ended Boston's three-game win streak.

The Canadiens took a 4-0 lead on goals by Jan Bulis in the first period and Yanic Perreault, Oleg Petrov and Randy McKay in the second.

John Grahame, who played every game of Boston's win streak, allowed Bulis' fifth goal 5:10 into the game. It came on a pass from Andreas Dackell from behind the net.

MAPLE LEAFS 4, PENGUINS 2: Mats Sundin's second goal of the game broke a third-period tie for host Toronto, which handed Pittsburgh its season-high fifth straight loss.

The Penguins lost forward Aleksey Morozov, who broke his right wrist when he was checked into the boards by Toronto's Ric Jackman in the first period.

Mario Lemieux recorded his league-leading 50th and 51st points in his 26th game. It is the fastest a player reached 50 points since 1995-96 when he had 50 in 18 games and teammate Jaromir Jagr did it in 24.

BLACKHAWKS 3, ISLANDERS 2: Theo Fleury assisted on the tying goal by Eric Daze and his linemate, Tyler Arnason, score the winner as visiting Chicago rallied. Arnason's goal came 9:36 into the final period.

Islanders defenseman Roman Hamrlik will miss a month after he separated his left shoulder. Hamrlik, who scored in the second period to tie the score at 1, fell awkwardly trying to make a defensive play and skidded on his stomach into the end boards.

SENATORS 4, SABRES 2: Marian Hossa scored twice and Martin Prusek made 26 saves for Ottawa, which won in Buffalo for the first time since Dec. 30, 1998, snapping an eight-game winless streak (0-7-1) at HSBC Arena. Todd White and Brad Smyth also scored for Ottawa, 10-1-3 since Nov. 12. Hossa, with six goals in the past six games, has 18 and trails only Minnesota's Marian Gaborik in the league's goal-scoring race.

DEVILS 2, BLUES 0: Jim McKenzie and Turner Stevenson scored and Martin Brodeur made 28 saves for his third shutout this season for host New Jersey. Brodeur earned his 58th career shutout and survived a hard slam when Blues forward Tyson Nash was checked into him by Devils defenseman Colin White.

KINGS 3, PREDATORS 0: Felix Potvin recorded his third shutout of the season by turning back 19 shots for visiting Los Angeles, which scored all its goals on special teams (two power play, one shorthanded). Mathieu Schneider and Jaroslav Modry each had two assists for the Kings.

COYOTES: The team hired Doug Moss, recently an executive with the Mighty Ducks, as president and chief operating officer.

RANGERS: With leading goal scorer Pavel Bure and goaltender Mike Richter out indefinitely, the team recalled right wing Dixon Ward, defenseman Joel Bouchard and goaltender Johan Holmqvist from AHL Hartford.

SABRES: Despite speculation about the financial weakness of the team's intended new owners, Mark Hamister and Todd Berman, commissioner Gary Bettman said he expects the transaction to go through by February. "From everything I'm hearing from the lawyers, everybody is progressing and doing the things they need to be doing to move this along," Bettman said.

OBITUARY: Les Costello, the former Maple Leafs player who left the league to become a priest, died Tuesday after being injured during a charity hockey game. He was 74. He was admitted to Toronto's St. Michael's Hospital last week after sustaining a head injury during a Flying Fathers game in Guelph, Ontario. He had two goals and two assists as Toronto captured the 1948 Stanley Cup. He played 15 games the following season before leaving for the priesthood.
