PENSACOLA -- Convicted child molester Ricky Chavis, acquitted of killing the father of the two teenage boys who pleaded guilty to the crime, faces new charges.
Prosecutors on Monday replaced one charge of committing a lewd and lascivious act against the younger brother with 10 such counts and added a kidnapping charge. Chavis also remains charged with being an accessory after the fact to murder and evidence tampering. Brothers Alex and Derek King, 13 and 14, pleaded guilty to arson and third-degree murder in a mediated settlement. Derek admitted he fatally beat their father, Terry King, with an aluminum baseball bat in November 2001, and Alex said he had urged his brother to commit the killing. The boys said they then set their house on fire.
