BRANDON -- Saying it was "simply time to move on," Ernest Hayes resigned Wednesday as Brandon's football coach after six seasons. Hayes, whose team finished this season 5-5 and was 24-36 overall, is leaving his options open for the moment.
"I might look for some assistant coaching positions, but I want to find something that's right for me," Hayes said. "Someday I might resurface as a head coach, but in the meantime we'll just have to see what happens. ...
"I enjoyed my time at Brandon and we did a lot of good things for the kids. I think I left the program in a pretty good position.
"Now it's time to give somebody else a shot and see what they can do."
