    Web site: Graham for president?

WASHINGTON -- Two years ago, Florida Sen. Bob Graham was often mentioned as a possible candidate for vice president. Now there's talk he might run for the top job.

On Friday, an ABC News Web site called the Note floated the possibility that Graham might run for president.

The Web site said: "For those of you (who) think the Democratic nomination field is pretty set, what would you say if you heard that Sen. Bob Graham of Florida had initiated some 'serious discussions' with people about whether he might put together a strong 2004 presidential campaign?"

It had no attribution and provided no details.

Graham's current Senate term ends in 2004, the same year as the presidential election.

Asked about the ABC report, Graham spokesman Paul Anderson gave the same response he has been giving for weeks when reporters inquired about the senator's future:

"What the senator has said consistently is that he has been so focused on his intelligence committee duties that he has not had time to focus on his future political plans," Anderson said. "He is going to be discussing his options with his friends and family over the holidays. He will be announcing his plans in the first part of next year."
