CHICAGO -- Cedrick Banks scored 22 and Martell Bailey put back his own miss for the winning shot with 3.2 seconds left Saturday.
Southern Illinois' Stetson Hairston tied it at 71 with a free throw with 33 seconds left. It capped an 11-3 run by the Salukis.
Illinois-Chicago outscored Southern Illinois 10-1 over three minutes in the second half. Aaron Carr hit a 3-pointer to give Illinois-Chicago a 55-53 lead with 11:54 left, and Kyle Kickert's layup gave the Flames a 62-54 lead with 9:35 to go.
Banks played his first game of the season after being ineligible for failing to meet NCAA academic guidelines.
Hairston finished with 22 points for Southern Illinois and Kent Williams added 11.
